This Sunday we continue our study of the Book of Daniel with one of the most famous stories in the Bible: Daniel and the Lion's Den! Even though this is a familiar story to most of us, the Lord has some deeply powerful lesson for us as we study it again. Even though Daniel is now an old man - and lived through the collapse of the Babylonian Empire - we find the same steadfast loyalty and 'excellent spirit' in him that's always been there. And while Daniel's excellence will cause him to rise to the top again in this new Persian Empire: it will also attract the attention of wicked and envious men... and eventually Daniel will find himself thrown into a den of lions. While we may not face actual lions as a threat today, many of OUR fears are also perfectly reasonable and rational fears. Which means we also have much to learn from the incredible testimony, trust, and courage of Daniel. These lessons will help us not just survive our time in 'Babylon' - but learn to thrive here!
