We've reached the 12th message in this series, and we’ll be looking at a topic that many people are confused about today: the Church! What is it? Why are there so many different churches? Is there a ‘true church’? What makes a good church? As we’ll see, the Bible’s word that’s translated as ‘church’ is a Greek word: ‘ekklesia’ – and it means a gathering or assembly of people – specifically, it refers to a gathering of the people of God. So, while we often fall into the habit of referring to a building as ‘the church’ – in actuality, the PEOPLE are the church! Once we understand this great Bible truth, more and more of the puzzle pieces begin to fall into place. Tomorrow we'll be examining the Core teachings of the Bible about the Church from the instructions that Jesus gave to 7 unique churches in Asia… in the first 3 chapters of the Revelation! We have an incredible opportunity to see the way Jesus looked at these individual churches, and then draw lessons about the nature and function of the ‘church.’ We’re going to be covering a lot of territory! Also, as usual, we’ll consider the main attack on the Bible’s teaching about the Church, the Core Christian stand for these truths, and close with a practical look at how our day-to-day lives are changed by understanding what God intends for His church!
