We continue in our series on 'Core Christianity: 15 essential doctrines of the Christian Faith, and how they change our daily life.' We've reached the 6th message in this series, and it's on the Substitutionary Death of Jesus Christ! 'Substitutionary' is a big word and it has big implications for how we understand the deeply Good News about Jesus Christ. To help us understand the Bible's teaching on this subject, our primary text will actually come out of the Old Testament (!) from a prophecy that was written about Christ a little over 700 years before His birth! We'll consider the Core Bible truths about Christ's death that are essential to understanding how sinners can be saved and rescued from death. We'll briefly look at some of the most common attacks against this Bible truth - and then make application to our lives today. While I have no doubt that many of you are familiar with the Bible's teaching on the Substitutionary death of Christ, I think you'll find (like I did) an incredibly tender and wonderfully deepening appreciation for our Good Shepherd as we consider this Christian doctrine. What joy and assurance there is from a following a Shepherd who is willing to lay down HIS life for His sheep!
